Growing up, laundry always meant going to the garage...which in the summer, meant running really fast so not as to burn your feet, or waiting for the timing of the sprinklers to hit just right so not to get soaked, or trying to get your clothes out of the dryer before you melted (garages in the desert are stifling in the summer!).
When we bought the house here, I was surprised (in a good way!) that the laundry area was not in the garage. I'm not sure if it is a Southern California thing?...but it seems like a lot of homes we looked at also had laundry in the garage.
My laundry "room?" Well, it's a surprise :)

Yep, behind the folding doors, a little alcove :) It does it's job...but I wouldn't quite call it a room!
Not sure if it's any better in the hall that the garage? Not much space to fold, blocks traffic, and it's loud! But I know I won't burn my feet getting there! Any ideas on how to liven the place up? Make it more useful?
